Vision:
The Swiss Federation of Toy Libraries is the center of expertise for toy libraries and play in Switzerland. The SFTL’s vision is for toy libraries to be cultural, social, inclusive, intergenerational and sustainable meeting places that have a firm place in society.

Mission:
The SFTL’s mission is to ensure and promote the professionalization of Swiss toy libraries. To this end, it offers training courses, advises toy libraries, coordinates cooperation with other institutions and develops standards. The SFTL brings toy libraries together at regional, national and international levels and encourages mutual exchange. It provides support in the delivery of their services, events and activities.

Values:
The SFTL promotes diversity and the joy of play is committed to clear ethical principles. The federation is advocates for a non-discriminatory environment – characterized by fair play, respect and solidarity – so that toy libraries can provide access to play for everyone.

 

 

Play is at the heart of the Swiss Federation of Toy Libraries (SFTL), the umbrella organisation for around 350 independent toy libraries in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
We provide advice and support to toy libraries; we offer them appropriate training and we handle public relations. Our members fulfill the federation’s operating standards, ensuring a highly professional service. The SFTL offers its members opportunities to network at local, regional, and international levels. We promote the sociocultural value of play and aim to make play accessible to all.

Aims of the Federation

  • To support individual toy libraries by offering training, public relations, advice and information
  • To enable individual toy libraries to network regionally and nationally
  • To promote the sociocultural value of play and make play accessible to all
  • To liaise with toy libraries abroad, as a member of the International Toy Library Association (ITLA) and of the group of European Toy Libraries (ETL)
  • To collaborate with other organisations supporting play, children, education or related subjects
  • To raise awareness of toy libraries
